When out in the wilderness you will most likely at some stage build a camp fire. We have found an article from Outdoor Life that will help you build something much more efficient, not only for heat but also for cooking. Building a fire pit with natural rocks is easy and you don’t even need any tools, although a shovel may come in handy if you can’t find a natural depression. With a fire pit and some natural flat stone you instantly have a place on which to fry or boil and by adding a couple of posts you can have a spit or hang a pot.
