When we go camping or hiking, generally we take a camping stove using petrochemical fuels. A new camping stove that has come on the market uses solid fuels, which basically means that you don’t have to carry fuels with you. This will lighten the load and be far safer and if you are concerned about the environment, a lot greener too as you are using renewable energy and reducing your carbon foot print. Not only that but the Biolite Stove also has a USB port and acts as a charger, so if you are one of those that can’t leave home without your phone or laptop then this would be ideal. When out in the wilderness you will most likely at some stage build a camp fire. We have found an article from Outdoor Life that will help you build something much more efficient, not only for heat but also for cooking. Building a fire pit with natural rocks is easy and you don’t even need any tools, although a shovel may come in handy if you can’t find a natural depression. With a fire pit and some natural flat stone you instantly have a place on which to fry or boil and by adding a couple of posts you can have a spit or hang a pot.
